HISTORY IN THE HANGTAG

A glimpse into the meticulous detail in every RSRV experience.

No part of a RSRV piece is overlooked. From the materials to the stitch and the fit to the form, everything is calculated and intentional. This is a reflection of our obsessive attention to detail. Even the packaging and presentation of a RSRV garment is a testament to this commitment.

Attached to each RSRV piece is a very special accessory that reaffirms RSRV’s direct connection to motorsports. A small hangtag affixed to each garment has been upcycled from crashed MotoGP leather suits.

It is not uncommon for a MotoGP athlete to become dislodged from their bike, oftentimes at speeds well over 100MPH. The results usually render the suit unusable or at least in need of repair. The Alpinestars Racing Services team will collect those suits and assess them in the Alpinestars R&D department in Asolo, Italy.

The RSRV team found the damaged suits to be a beautiful illustration of the speed, courage, and commitment of a MotoGP athlete. They decided to implement them into the RSRV experience by repurposing pieces of the crashed suits as a decorative hangtag on each garment. An array of crashed suit panels was laser cut into 5 X 7.5CM tags, and branded with RSRV logos. Each panel was chosen for its interesting color blocking, damage, scuffs, perforation, and stitching, and no two tags are alike. Each one bears some indication of the team/athlete that wore it and asphalt-induced confirmation of their incident.

The crashed leather hangtags are attached to each garment by a strap that has been repurposed from an Alpinestars auto racing suit. It is a laser cut from a woven label that is traditionally stitched into the chest of a race suit, reminding the wearer of the dangers of racing and the limitations of the suit.

Additionally, each RSRV garment is delivered in a deadstock auto racing suit bag originally intended to be used as packaging for an auto racing suit. The handled nylon bag is printed with RSRV branding. A RSRV garment arrives the same way Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, or Lando Norris receive their race suits on race day. This is yet another example of RSRV’s racing legacy and obsession with detail.
