Daniel Ricciardo: The Honey Badger’s Rise and Roar
Born 1 July 1989 in Perth, Australia, Ricciardo began karting at nine and swiftly ascended the junior racing ladder—claiming titles in Formula Renault and British F3. Promoted through the Red Bull junior system, he debuted in F1 in 2011 with HRT, then joined Toro Rosso in 2012.
His breakthrough arrived in 2014 with Red Bull Racing, where Ricciardo notched three wins—Canada, Hungary, and Belgium—and finished third in the championship in his debut top‑team year. He continued to shine with Red Bull until 2018, adding more victories and setting his reputation as a formidable overtaker.
After stints with Renault and McLaren (where he famously won at Monza in 2021), Ricciardo returned to the Red Bull fold as a reserve driver, later stepping in at AlphaTauri and RB. End of September 2024 marked the close of his F1 tenure, leaving behind a legacy of 8 wins and 32 podiums.
Off-track, his “shoey” celebrations, sunny demeanor, and role in Drive to Survive helped him become one of F1’s most popular and enduring personalities
